“How to Answer an Evolutionist”

      I had the privilege last evening of sitting beside a new mother and her infant son.  I sat there watching the little one and listening to the new mother and the mother of a three year old discussing “Mom” things.  As I matter of fact over the last month, as anticipation for the baby’s arrival grew, I had listened to many discussions where the baby’s movements and development were the topics.  These are absolutely amazing conversations to me.  These conversations and watching the baby made me think.

      Lately I have been studying a great deal about apologetics, or Christian evidences.  One area of this field deals with answering the claims of evolutionists.  Many excellent sources are available that provide information with which to counter evolutionary claims; most of these sources supply very technical arguments.  Yet, as I sat watching baby Jace I could not help but think of the scripture where we are told that God can use the simple things of this world to confuse the wise.  Right here in front of me, in the “simple” form of a newborn infant, was one of the most profound refutations of the theory of evolution.  This tiny little babe who nine months ago was conceived from two cells… this baby whose brain formation began within days of conception… this little one whose brain already has more power and capacity than any computer… whose body’s functioning is more complex than any machine or organism… all of this in nine short months….

      One of the scientific laws that even evolutionists agree to states:  “Where there is evidence of design, there must be a designer.”  So the next time someone asks for proof, or questions the existence, of a Creator; ask them if they’ve ever seen… a baby.
