      "A Beautiful Sight"

On Sunday mornings, during the song prior to the sermon, I am able to witness a very special scene.  You see, at that time the children each bring a non-perishable food item and place it in a basket at the front of the auditorium, this will later be taken to the community food bank.  Since my husband and I sit near the front, we have an unobstructed view of each of the children as they bring their offering.  "God loveth a cheerful giver" is most definitely exemplified as each little one; some with the aid of a sibling, parent, grandparent or cousin, makes their trek.

Today I took particular notice of the looks on others faces as they to watched the informal procession.  There I saw expressions of approval and joy as they watched their children bringing their gifts.  It caused me to wonder...

What must it be like to look into the face of the Father as we, His children, make our offerings? Offerings of time, money, hospitality, prayer,teaching... Some offerings easily given, others made at great sacrifice to the giver...Offering of ourselves as the Father and Son have modeled for us...Offering back for His purpose what was never truly ours.

What must it be like to look into the face of the Father as we, His children, make our offerings?  To look into the face of our Father at such a moment must truly be a beautiful sight.
