“FAITH”
Did you ever really contemplate the meaning of this word? Most of us would say we have it, but what is it? Is it merely a belief? Do we see it as another item on the checklist of "What I Need to Be Saved? Is it a blind thing? How much of it do I have and just how much does God expect me to have?
Jesus talks of having as much faith as a very tiny mustard seed; for with just that much he says that we can move mountains. Awesome! Do you consider yourself a mountain mover? Look at it this way; it is not you who will be moving mountains it will be Elohim, the Creator, doing the moving because of your faith. While our faith may start as a grain of mustard seed, it should continue to grow as our hearts come more in tune with God, His power, and His will. Faith is shown by our commitment, trust, reliance, and obedience to God.
Mr. Webster gives this as one of the definitions of faith: "belief that is not based on proof." However, while we do believe in things unseen, our faith is based on proof. Everyday that we look at God's work in our lives is the proof that He exists and is active.
The ability to step out in faith to pursue a certain course means that we do not allow the uncertainty of what the second step will be to preclude us from taking the first. We must be totally committed and trust Jehovah-Yireh, the God who will provide, to lead us in doing His will. He will be true to his word. Look at the lives of Abraham as he was called to pick up and leave home not even knowing his destination . . . or the apostles whom he called to follow him, not knowing where that path would lead . . . or Noah who was called to build an ark when no one had ever even heard of rain, let alone a flood. God always delivered the faithful.
Finally, remember that quality of our faith is to be judged by God not ourselves. We need to always work at growing in our knowledge of God and looking to see Him at work around us and in us. This will lead to our faith growing deeper and deeper.
Are you totally committed to trust in the Lord? Are you ready to move mountains?
